NATIONAL ELIGIBILITY CUM ENTRANCE TEST (UG)

NATIONAL ELIGIBILITY CUM ENTRANCE TEST (UG) will be conducted by
National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to MBBS/BDS Courses and other undergraduate medical courses in
approved/recognized Medical/Dental & other Colleges/Institutes in India.

Admissions to all seats of Undergraduate Medical Courses will be done
through NEET (UG).

NEET (UG) will be held in single stage and would be an objective type
test.

Section 14 of the National Medical Commission Act, 2019 provides for
holding of a common and uniform National Eligibility- cum- Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to the
undergraduate medical courses in all medical institutions including those governed under any other law.
Thus, the admission to MBBS course in AIIMS, New Delhi, JIPMER and all AIIMS like Institutions will be made
through NEET. The eligibility criteria applicable to appear in NEET (UG) shall also be applicable to the
candidates desirous to take admission to INIs like AIIMS. The common counselling for admission to MBBS
course in these INIs shall be conducted by the DGHS as per the Time Schedule specified in the MCI’s
regulations.

The responsibility of the NTA is limited to the entrance examination,
declaration of result and for providing an “All India Rank Merit List” to the Directorate General Health
Service, Government of India for the conduct of counselling for 15% All India Quota Seats and for providing
the result to States/other Counselling Authorities.

NEET (UG)- 2024 Information

NEET (UG)- 2024 is a Pen & Paper –based test, to be answered on the specially designed machine gradable sheet
using Ball Point Pen.

Duration of the test would be 3 hrs. Each question carries 04 marks.

For each correct answer/best option, the candidate will get 04 marks.

For each incorrect answer, 01 mark will be deducted from the total score.

To answer a question, the candidate has to find, for each question, the correct answer/best option.

However, after the process of the challenge of key, if more than one option is found to be correct, then
all/any one of the multiple correct/best options marked will be given four marks (+4). Any incorrect
option marked will be given minus one mark(-1). Unanswered/Unattempted questions will be given no marks. In
case a question is dropped/ignored, all candidates will be given four marks (+4) irrespective of whether
the question has been attempted or not attempted by the candidate.

Language/Medium of the Question paper – English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu,
Oriya, Malayalam, Kannada, Punjabi, and Urdu.

In case of any ambiguity in the translation of a question in the test, its English version shall be treated
as final, and the decision of NTA shall be final in this regard.
